I have recently rejoined the Pacific Northwest Writers Association (PNWA). I hope to find other historical fiction writers who would like to share their work with me, and likewise. My goal is to open new fronts where I can market myself and get published. The PNWA has contests and learning events. I plan to take advantage of everything they offer.
One thing I have learned from taking a six-week course with the Lucinda Literary Agency, building a network of writer friends, is outstanding. Writing doesn’t need to be a solitary activity. Collaborating, supporting, helping is far better than going it alone. In the coming weeks, I’ll return here to relate to you how my quest to build a network is going. Fingers-crossed, it happens.
Okay, it's late October 2024 and I have several friends remaining after our classes ended with Lucinda. We're developing a close union of support. My best friend, Sarah, is writing a dystopian thriller and she's so outstanding at using metaphors to provide sensory details and relate visuals to create a mood. I wish her success, even if I never find any. Because, I like any hopeful writer, sit at a keyboard alone and try to break through into the publishing world. It means a lot to share experiences with other artists who love the craft.
